What electrical components are used in car engines?

When you buy used cars in Fountain Inn, a car’s electrical components are rarely on your agenda of evaluation. But they are vital in guiding the mechanical parts and no car can work properly with a faulty electrical system. All cars use a variety of electric components that work in tandem to propel the car forward and/or keep your seats warm. For the engine specifically, the following three are the essential electrical parts.

Battery

This supplies the necessary current to the ignition and fuel systems to get the engine going. The ignition system requires a high voltage to create a spark. It draws power from the battery, through a transformer, and ignites the fuel in each combustion cycle.

Starter

The engine cannot kickstart on its own when it has been at rest. It needs a push from an electrical starter, that also absorbs power from the battery, to give the crankshaft its initial torque. Once the starter as rotated the crankshaft, the engine then takes over and the wheels get their required rotational motion

Alternator

The alternator takes converts the mechanical energy from the car’s rotating parts into electrical energy to recharge the battery. This completes the electrical loop where the battery again supplies the necessary power to the engine to rotate the required parts.

Family Auto pays close attention to the electrical systems both while absorbing and selling used cars into and from its lots. As evident, even if one engine electrical part malfunctions, your car’s powertrain will be seriously compromised.
